GNG, aiming to contribute to the advancement of research in Brazil, is also associated with ABMS, a non-profit technical-scientific association with a long tradition in Brazilian engineering, currently with approximately one thousand members.

Founded in 1950, ABMS brings together geotechnical professionals in Brazil who work in Soil Mechanics, Rock Mechanics, Pavement Mechanics, Foundations, Dams, Excavations, Tunnels, Mining, Geosynthetics, Environmental Geotechnics, Sanitary Landfills, Petroleum Geomechanics, and other Geotechnical Engineering activities.
